Which bike type should I choose for Almora's terrain?

Almora's landscape offers a mix of paved mountain roads and rugged forest trails. If you plan to ride on trails, forest paths, or unpaved routes around Kasar Devi or Jageshwar, a mountain bike is your best choice. For tarmac rides along the Almora–Ranikhet highway or other paved roads, a road bike offers more speed and efficiency. If you want assistance on steep climbs without exhausting yourself, our e-bikes are the perfect solution — they let you cover more ground and reach higher viewpoints with ease.

Is a helmet included in the rental price?

Accepted Answer

Yes, absolutely. A properly fitted helmet is included with every bike rental at no extra charge — it's mandatory for all riders. Our helmets meet IS:4151 safety standards and are sanitised between uses. We also offer knee and elbow pads for an additional ₹100/day, and we strongly recommend wearing them on off-road trails. Gloves and cycling eyewear are available to purchase at our shop.

What is the damage policy if I have an accident?

Accepted Answer

In the event of damage to the bike, the renter is responsible for repair costs up to the value of the security deposit paid at the time of booking (₹1,000–₹2,500 depending on bike type). For major damage exceeding the deposit, our team will provide a repair estimate and settle accordingly. Normal wear and minor tyre punctures during the rental period are covered by us. We recommend always locking the bike when leaving it unattended — theft when unlocked is the renter's liability.

What deposit is required, and is it refundable?

Accepted Answer

A refundable security deposit is required at the time of pickup: ₹1,000 for road bikes, ₹1,500 for mountain bikes, and ₹2,500 for e-bikes. The deposit is fully refunded in cash upon safe return of the bike in the same condition. Deposits are not refunded if the bike is returned with damage beyond normal wear, or if the bike is not returned (theft liability). We accept cash and UPI for the deposit.

What is the cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

We offer a flexible cancellation policy: cancellations made 24 hours or more before your scheduled pickup receive a full refund of any advance payment. Cancellations within 24 hours of pickup are eligible for a 50% refund or a free reschedule within 30 days. No-shows forfeit the advance payment. In case of poor weather or unsafe trail conditions (e.g., heavy rain or landslides), we'll offer a full reschedule or refund with no penalty — rider safety comes first.

Do I need any prior experience or a licence to rent a bike?

Accepted Answer

No licence is required to rent a bicycle or e-bike (since our e-bikes are pedal-assist under 250W, they do not require motor vehicle registration or a driving licence). However, we do recommend that riders have basic cycling experience before attempting Almora's mountain terrain. If you're new to cycling, our staff will provide a brief orientation session. Riders must be at least 16 years old; riders under 18 must have parental/guardian consent.

Can I take the bike on long-distance routes or overnight trips?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Our multi-day and weekly rental packages are specifically designed for longer adventures. You can carry the bike on pre-approved routes to neighbouring towns like Ranikhet, Munsiyari, or Binsar. However, please inform us of your route at the time of booking so we can ensure your bike is properly serviced and equipped. For routes beyond 50 km, we recommend our mountain or e-bike options and suggest carrying a basic puncture repair kit (provided in the toolkit).
